LIASA HELIG Call for Nominations for 2016-2018

Call for nominations

HELIG is looking for dedicated, dynamic, driven, and innovative thought leaders for the upcoming term (2016-2018). We would like to invite you to identify and nominate  individuals that can take the Higher Education Library Interest Group (HELIG) to the next level, with Ingrid Thomson as Chair. To nominate someone for the next term, he/she must be a paid-up LIASA member (listed on the 2016 Voters’ Roll), with HELIG as primary or secondary interest group of choice.

Sub-systems to be represented

Individuals serving on HELIG will be representing post-schooling institutional libraries, which include: special & research libraries, TVET libraries, Universities of Technology, and university (higher education) libraries across all Branches. We welcome nominations for the below mentioned portfolios, from all Branches, so that all post-schooling libraries, geographical areas and their interests are well represented and served.

Available positions

The following positions are available (click on position title to view role/responsibility):

How to nominate

  1. Once you have identified the candidate, have the following completed:
    1. Nomination form (signed by nominee, nominee supervisor, nominator, seconder)
    2. Brief Curriculum Vitae (max. 200 words). Tell us where you currently work and what you do, where you have worked in the past, what your qualifications are, and whether you are currently studying. You are welcome to share one or two highlights from your career.
    3. Brief Election Manifesto (max. 100 words). Share one or two issues you would like to have addressed by HELIG, and the rationale behind it.
    4. Clear recent colour head & shoulders photograph (jpeg)
  1. Convert all to e-format, and assign file names according to the following:
    1. Nomination form: pdf
    2. Curriculum Vitae: pdf
    3. Election Manifesto: pdf
    4. Photo: jpeg
  1. Share the 4 files with the current Chair by 19 August 2016:
    1. Upload it to the cloud (Google Drive, Dropbox, other), and grant access to inacsmith@gmail.com ; and/or
    2. Email to ina@assaf.org.za
  1. The current Chair will respond with a confirmation email that the nomination was successfully received. Please inquire with ina@assaf.org.za should you not receive a confirmation email within 2 days of submitting the nomination.

Following nominations

Once all nominations have been received, and following the closing date (19 August 2016), the LIASA Electoral Officer will prepare the online voting system. The next call that will go out to your individual emails, will be to vote electronically for the HELIG members nominated. A photo and brief biography of each candidate will be made available to assist you with your choice. HELIG voting dates: 15-30 September 2016. The democratically elected LIASA HELIG Committee will be announced by the current Chair during the HELIG AGM on Wednesday 12 October 2016, 10:30 – 11:30.
